In God We Trust (IGWT) is the 4th album released by Stryper. This album is the center of a debate between hardcore fans of the Yellow & Black. Fans are split between which Stryper album is the best: "To Hell With The Devil" or "In God We Trust."

THWTD (as fans call it) has the band's two biggest hits on it, "Honestly," a power ballad that can be found on the compilation "Monster Ballads," and the title track, which is a down & dirty hard rocking song which concentrates on bad-mouthing the dark lord. It also includes the fun "Sing-Along Song," which uses the catchy 'Whoa, oh,oh, whoa-oh oh oh, la la' verse which is impossible to resist singing to.

Many fans thought the band couldn't top as great an album as THWTD was, but they were proven wrong by IGWT. Marked by the upbeat title song, it is right up there with THWTD. It goes from one extreme to the other, with the lovely ballad, "I Believe in You," to the explosive closer, "The Reign." And this also has a sing-along favorite, in "It's Up 2 U." A laid-back favorite, with the feeling of a concert. The band echos lead singer Michael Sweet's lyrics on the chorus: "Come on everybody, put your hands up in the air. Just move to the rhythm, joining people everywhere."

Both albums are great. They both have great ballads, heavy rock tunes, and great sing-along songs. IGWT does not have a single song on it that you will skip over. THWTD has a short instrumental at the beginning that is basically worthless, so I skip over that. But the thing it comes down to is: besides the hits on each album, which album has the better songs that are unreleased? The answer is simple. IGWT has so many good songs on it that you could listen to it twice and get hooked on it. Marked by "Lonely," "The Writings on the Wall," and "The World of You and I," IGWT has such memorable songs you could not listen to it for a year and still remember the words.

Go out and buy both of these albums and decide for yourself. I also suggest getting their 2nd album, "Soldiers Under Command." It has good variety itself, and is the one I'm listening to the most right now.
