Triumph live! (Reply to this comment)
by 3BCoach
I've had opportunity to see them in concert twice. And the one thing that they do have in common with Rush is their ability to pull off a totally clean live show. This band is highly under-rated technically. Great job as always!

Great review. I have always followed this band as living in Michigan, this is one of the first places that Canadian musicians come to get U.S. exposure.

The triumph of triteness and guitars? (Reply to this comment)
by MiDoyle
Some consider them the poor man's Rush of course, but they have some clear similarities. Unfortunately, too much of the lyrics (quoted in your review) are overly trite and syrupy. But that is common in this genre. Rik can certainly play guitar, though his talent is somewhat overshadowed by the 80s hair metal/power ballad style popular at the time. His solo work is a little different.

I saw Triumph in 1982 or so, but not in concert. They were on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Tx. eating lunch. I was with my Grandmother and parents at the table next to them. Great Band!
