Re: Why This Isn't a Fave Among REM Fans? (Reply to this comment)

Hi!

Thanks for the comment and thanks for reading!

I still haven't heard "Around The Sun," but I found I like "Monster" a LOT better than "New Adventures In Hi-Fi," which I think is even more inconsistent and tries far too hard to be experimental (check out my review tomorrow, please!). As for "Automatic For The People," I think pairing the two albums together yields R.E.M.'s most diverse works.

Why This Isn't a Fave Among REM Fans? (Reply to this comment)

Well, it was an album, despite some great songs, is really more of the band kind of playing along with what alternative rock is. Plus, the album on some parts isn't great.

Fans tend to have mixed reviews with Monster for the fact that it wasn't as consistent as Automatic nor as diverse as the follow-up to this album, New Adventures in Hi-Fi. Yet, I'll take Monster any day of the week over Around the Sun.
