I bought this album because I was already an Everclear fan, and I had to have this one. It is by far their best album, and the second best album ever, second only to the album put out by Everclear's lead singer's previous band Colorfinger called deep in the heart of the beast in the sun. The colorfinger CD is however VERY limited, only 1,000 copies made and production ended in 1990, so thie everclear CD is the best readily availible CD. It is a world of noise, a CD filled with heavy distortion mixed with feedback, and lots of it. Probably more than half of the CD's playing time has feedback in one of the tracks. Yet above all this noise is a very melodic CD, with a distorted yet has definite melody. the ending to my all time favorite song your genius hands is one example, it has first a melodic guitar riff which is actually made prettier (if you will) by the deafening distortion, and then is followed by a feedback ending. there are songs for people who like heavy rock such as your genius hands, the laughing world, nervous and weird... The song Trust fund (originally done by the lead singer's previous band colorfinger) was originally a very melodic song, but the everclear version is heavily distorted, and the tune can not be picked out, and I absolutely love it!!!! Another thing that you can tell in this CD is just how much everclear was ahead of the musical trend, but never got any credit for it. Colorfinger was doing similar things to what you'd hear in this CD, similar to Nirvana, only colorfinger did it before Nevermind was released. All in all, this is the best CD you can buy!!!!! (unless you can find the colorfinger CD on ebay...)
