macman123's Full Review: Roots to Branches by Jethro Tull
In the 70s, Jethro Tull was a very excellent band. With excellent albums like Thick as a Brick and Aqualung...Jethro Tull had become the kings of rock. They continued to produce a few more albums that were good. Then came the 80s...the band seemed to follow the trend of bad music. Sure, they weren't horrible...but they weren't anywhere as good as they were. Finally, the 90s rolled around. In 1995, "Roots to Branches" was put out...and it was actually quite good. Sure, it was no Aqualung...but still good music. I was particularly pleased that Jethro Tull had happened to find a new source of creativity.
Most of these tracks are good, but I will give the highlights:
This Free Will - Barre is back, with some great guitar...and great flute from Anderson
Valley - A very interesting song, and very catchy. Again, a good cohesiveness.
Beside Myself - A good use of rhythm and beat...a great song.
Wounded, Old And Treacherous - Probably the best track on the album...great guitar, and fluteing. Not to mention some good drumming.
This is a good album...worth the $10 bucks, for certain.
