Pros:Shows the talent and potential of a truely organic band
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: Expresses a multitude of styles and creates a great atmosphere in an extremely genuine way. Great voices, great practical instrumentalists - what more could you want?
The Corrs debut album, Forgiven Not Forgotten demonstrates the Corrs song writing and performing talents. Every song demonstrates the skill with which each sibling can play their respective instruments.
Through this album you can immediately sense a huge amount of feeling in the music. Andrea's voice has strength and passion, Caroline's drumming is energetic, Sharon's playing of the violin shows true musicianship and Jim's piano and guitar comes through as a solid backbone to the group.
My favorite song on this album is Heaven Knows which demonstrates each sibling's commitment and passionate playing as all the instruments of the band come through throughout the song.
The strength of this album is also the fact that there are instrumentals throughout the album, maintaining a traditional folk style of music while implementing the group's rock influences.
The instrumentals range between the calming to the waking, and provide welcome bridges between the songs.
This album really does demonstrate the Corrs Raw and this is the base on which they have grown through their other albums.
The songs on this album range from the philosophical to those about unrequited love. Quite a range, and every song really does have a different style which is quite unique to this band and this is what creates their appeal.
Overall this album is a true demonstration of the power of a youthful band who are creating a true vocation for themselves through Forgiven Not Forgotten
