The breakout album of 1995-96

Written: Jul 19 '00
Pros:What's not to like? One of the greatest songs "Hallowed Land" is on here!
Cons:Never has been a favorite among those here in the states.

This was THE album in my CD player at almost all times in 1995 (the second was the legendary Wildhoney by Tiamat). I have played this to non-metallers in the past and they have even been stunned at the amazing songs this beast has to offer.

Draconian Times was the fifth studio album from the former Doom Metallers of England. Gone were the bland and absolutely hair ripping drums of Matthew Archer, replaced by the much more styled work of Lee Morris.

Nick Holmes (vocalist) gives one of his most energetic performances of his career on this album as does the remaining members Greg Mackintosh (Guitars), Aaron Eddy (Guitars), and Stephan Edmondson (Bass).

This is a band who has not been given the recognition it deserves in America. Their last tour here was all the way in 1993 (!!) while supporting their 4th LP Icon.

The time has come for their name to get out into the airwaves. I dare you to listen to this album and not find anything on it worth mentioning. This is one of the best recorded works of all time.
