Torn_Willows's Full Review: The Burdens of Being Upright by Tracy Bonham
"The Burdens Of Being Upright" is the 1996 release from the fabulous musician Tracy Bonham. Tracy produces a great rock/alternative album, that shows off her voice and skill as a musician. Some of the song have some odd lyrics, but the general public doesn't need to understand the meaning behind them, as long as Tracy does. The songs on this album are great because on more than one occasion Tracy wails or yells at the top of her lungs, but she does it in a very musical way. Sometimes I wonder how that is possible, but it's part of the treasure that is Tracy Bonham.
"The Burdens Of Being Upright" is a 12 song adventure through, which is guided by Tracy's voice. This album contains fast songs, and slower songs that have fast parts. All in all this album is pretty fast.(Rambling). Some of my favorite songs on this album include "Mother,Mother", "The One," and "Bulldog", because they contain a uncontrollable amount of energy that causes a person to move around with the words, however strange they are. Some of those slower paced, fast songs on the album are "Tell It To The Sky", and "Sharks Can't Sleep", both are excellent songs. Another strange little thing on this album is the ditty "Brain Crack" which is probably the strangest thing on this album. "Have you ever heard the sound of you head in the ground. That's the sound of your brain cracking." (See).
The mixture of wailing, strang lyrics, and Tracy's voice make "The Burdens Of Being Upright" a great addition to any cd collection. Tracy's voice as well as her songs are some of the most original sounds to come from an artist. Tracy was supposed to release her second album early this fall, according to the Billboard release dates, but it never came out. My guess is that her record label pushed back the date for some odd reason. The only remark I have on that is... BIG MISTAKE!!
