NinaNee's Full Review: The Burdens of Being Upright by Tracy Bonham
Tracy Bonham's first full length album the Burdens Of Being Upright has a couple of really good songs, but that's as much as I can say. Most of the songs have lyrics that make no sense, and songs that are just plain dumb. For example "Brain Crack" is an insane song which the chorus is "that's the sound of your brain cracking" repeated several times. Not exactly break through music if you know what I mean.
There are a few good songs on there. The break away hit Mother Mother is going to always be a timeless classic that you can listen to a lot. Tell It To the Sky is also an awesome song with Tracy's yelling complimenting mostly the song. Sharks Can't Sleep is a stupid song, but it sounds good musically. The best song in my opinion on the album is The One. This song has great lyrics, chorus and is very very catchy.
But mostly I can sum up the album by saying the one word that it fixates upon. SILLY.
"Navy Bean"- " A navy bean is bigger than it seems, just put it on and don't ask what it means... parade around."
"Bulldog"- "Who's got the bulldog [whoa oh oh oh oh] who's got the bulldog... down..... be...low
