peteyamama's Full Review: Evil Empire [PA] by Rage Against the Machine
Can anyone else move a crowd like Rage? I'm not sure. This Sophomore effort is an absolutely amazing, inspiring, life changing compilation, which cries out for humanity in a world wrought with injustice.
This album emphasizes the hip hop over the heavy metal, with strong beats, booming bass, and unusual guitar. Zack de la Rocha's lyrics are mind expanding, as he speaks on such topics as the Zapatista Movement in Mexico and Conservative Talk Radio.
This is not the type of music, which is automatically appealing or understandable. It takes time to appreciate the instrumentals and understand all of Zack's lyrics. But be patient my friends, once you become comfortable with your Evil Empire, you may want to go out and start a Revolution.
Please, please listen to the lyrics!
If you like Rage, listen to Fugazi and Bad Brains.
