Pros:riveting, and revealing of many problems with our society.
Cons:too much foul language, but that comes with anger I suppose
Rage Against the Machine's Evil Empire is something else.
The lyrics are well thought out and they hit you differently everytime. And there is an audacious mix of rap, punk and hard rock that makes for a fresh rendition modern sound.
The combination of the sound and the lyrics come out in a pure rage and frustration against everything about this world that is wrong.
Of course, a few of my friends see the band as a bunch of hypocrites who are just shouting for the money.
Who knows? They might be part right about the band, but the expression of frustration still provides an excellent vehicle to showing the world that life isn't a fairy tale despite the booming economy, increased freedom, amusing U.S. presidential candidates, larger sport-utility-vehicles and other things characteristic of the 1990's.
But alas, rebellion is against the mainstream these days and Rage Against the Machine is not getting as big an audience as say Britney (victim of child labor in the music industry) Spears and Ricky (I have syphillis) Martin.
