Yeah, there were only a few decent tracks on this one. Tracey Thorn on Massive Attack's "Protection" was much better. And "Temperamental" was a more consistent album than "Walking Wounded"
Great review!

OK. This game you play is getting pretty old. I did mention they were British in the first paragraph. I also mentioned in the 4th (I believe) that they debuted in 1984. Before you start hurling insults I suggest you consult you favorite music info site and read my review and others more closely. You might learn something. FINALLY....according to allmusic.com, Eden was in fact they first full length LP (1984). According to the duo's own official site, their first LP was Eden released in 1984. They did in fact release Singles beginning in 1982. I refuse to play your games...they are ridiculous and petty.

Great review as always, but I disagree with this one. Though you may find Thorn's voice to be dispassionate, I find it sad and melancholy; and it fits beautifully into tracks like "Before Today" and "Mirrorball". Did you hear the lyrics in those songs? They're really affecting.
Anyway, just my 2 cents... Jack

Great Review, But.... (Reply to this comment)

Yeah, some of the songs are kinda antiseptic and a little too reliant on machinery. Actually, EBTG's best albums came when they were positioned as a jazz/soul/pop duo in the vein of Sade. 1990's "Language of Life" is excellent. And I think Tracey Thorn is an incredibly expressive singer and probably one of my 10 favorite female vocalists ever.
Still, excellently put-together review.
