shir's Full Review: Greatest Hits by Tiffany (Pop)
Now, I know some of you may say that Tiffany, miss pop queen of the 80's, does not deserve a greatest hits album. However, this is not the case. She is an incredibly talented singer, and does not deserve negative comments from two of her hits which are actually covers of old songs. This is a great album which has a nice variety of Tiffany's music.
)I Think We're Alone Now-Tiffany's biggest hit, obviously. When you think of Tiffany, this is the song which usually pops up. She does a good job with this song, however, many think that she "stole" the song. Still fun to listen to if you didn't get too sick of it when it was played nonstop in the 80's =P
)Danny-Tiffany's first single, which already tells you that this song is quite good. The beat is nice, and Tiffany's vocals, of course, are doing a good job here.
)All This Time-Another one of Tiffany's big hits. A nice ballad, very good vocals, with a catchy ring to it. A very good song-well paced, not too slow or fast.
)It's the Lover-This song again has very good vocals and a nice beat to it-however, I do not like this song in particular, as it is a bit slow and monotonous.
)I Saw Him Standing There-The second song that Tiffany did a cover of. I think that the beginning beat and synthesizer effects are terrible-the beat is also a little too bit uptempo-however, Tiffany still pulls of good vocals-making this song catchy and worthy of a Top 5 title =)
)Hold an Old Friend's Hand-Strange that a song like this was sung by such a young girl like Tiffany, as it refers to "an old hill", "holding a old friend's hand", etc. Good lyrics, and of course, good vocals, but the song is too slow and lacks a good chorus.
)Radio Romance-Another uptempo catchy song by Tiffany. Nothing really shines about this song, but it is still very listenable.
)Feelings of Forever-An okay song, really. The song is performed very well over all, however, I just did not take a liking to it.
)Back in the Groove-This song is used for a CD space filler only-nothing particulary great here.
)Mr. Mambo-Now, why they chose to put this song as the only B-Side track on the whole album, I have no idea. This is one of her worst B-Sides, and definitely her silliest song. Lots of nonsensical lyrics and a wierd beat. Skip it.
)Here in My Heart-Song of the Gulf War. Ploddingly slow, and cliched lyrics. I personally do not like it, but some may.
)Could've Been-Tiffany's 2nd hit. A song basically about it's title, I do not understand why this had to be her 2nd hit. I mean, it is performed well, but again, it lacks a good chorus or a catchy beat to make it a song you listen to over and over again.
Overall, this album is very fun to listen to-Tiffany is a very talented singer, and this CD has (for the most part) all good tracks. The only downside is that Mr. Mambo is the only B-Side track on the album-otherwise, this is a wonderful album and a definite buy, even if you are not a Tiffany fan.
