Down one rating (Reply to this comment)

for the eye-glazing track list. My new rule is noreview featuring a track list will receive a VH, as I hate track lists.

HELL YEAH!! (Reply to this comment)
by andym173
cool. we are almost in total agreement here (aside from the fact that i think "don't go away" sucks too, and kinda like "magic pie" in a way).
yes, "definitely maybe" is easily their best album (although you mentioned "what's the story" too), and yes, the last two they have produced are utter crapola.
and - what the hell is up with downrating because of a track-listing???
great review - and track-listing ;)

And to top it off... (Reply to this comment)

the band just fired drummer Alan White, even though they're in the midst of recording. The funniest part is that they stated that they "don't plan to replace him." Which means what...unplugged or with techno beats?

DIsagreement! (Reply to this comment)
by nsign
Well, here's a thing. I reviewed this a while back, and I have to say I disagree with most of what you say here. I think the production is terrible, My Big Mouth is actually a pretty good track, Don't Go Away is lousy, syrupy and cliche ridden, and All Around The World ranks as the worst thing they ever did, an appallingly overblown and flimsy Beatles pastiche with pretensions of anthemic greatness. I also think the 2 albums they did after this are much better in terms of songwriting and sense of economy. This album really sunk their reputation, and I don't think its hard to see why.
D'you Know What I Mean is a damn good song though!

Oh god. I know. It's nauseating to think of it. Synthesized beats on top of THIS?
Gack.
Thanks for the comment.

Eh. Oh well. At least we agree that it's the album that sent them on their downward spiral...

I too, found the tracklisting at the end of your review positively eye-glazing. In fact, my eyes were so glazed by it, that Spike the Chihuahua mistook them for big yummy donuts and tried to lick them. Eww... please don't ever, ever, ever include tracklists again, because with your sizable readership, you may very well trigger an epidemic of eye-glazing.
As one of your Music Category constituents, if this tracklisting doesn't stop, I'm going to write a nasty CL feedback report about your vicious eye-glazing tactics. For once, I wish you tracklisting people would take a moment to think about how tracklisting is affecting our children!
STOP THE EYE-GLAZING NOW!!!
-Paul
(Wonderful review, by the way. Poor, poor Oasis. How sad it must have been for them to realize that tabloid-worthy personalities are no substitute for real musical invention.)

My apologies Shelly... (Reply to this comment)

I was just checking back on some of the reviews I commented on when I came across Spike's disgusting overture. I mean, it's one thing when he logs onto my account and writes a review every now and then. It's another thing altogether when he sexually harasses my on-line friends.
I apologize unreservedly. It will never happen again.

Spike's just a dirty boy. I understand.
Heck my sister (clle46) has/had a dog. She's only half chihuahua and is one of the most perverse creatures I've ever met...
No. Really. Don't set your hand down unless you want it humped. And her brand of humping was, well, rather nasty.

Ah, Annasmell...
The dog would fart out loud then run away from it like it was trying to attack her.
She also had explosive poops which she would subsequently roll around in or *blech* EAT.
As for Oasis, Robin has a tape here at home of a massive 'scoop' interview he got with Liam over the 'breakup' of the band. I'd best not post the contents here, but Liam spoke at length about his favourite past-time; mas*****tion.
