I love Sevendust, but I agree that this is a 3-star album at most. "Black," "B!tch" and "Prayer" are all I usually listen to anymore.
I would say that Seasons was more critically acclaimed than Home myself; it was definitely their most refined effort even if it produced fewer radio hits. If you ever do get around to checking out another 7D disc, I'd recommend that one. Either way, though, this is definitely a band that took a while to produce their best stuff.
Excellent review, I enjoyed reading a spin on this from someone whose tastes aren't normally metal-oriented.

Thanks--actually, it's the only album I own and unless a free one shows up on my doorstep it's highly unlikely I'll pick up another. A girl's got to conserve cash somehow ;)
In any case, I do appreciate the suggestions & compliments. I realize that this debut isn't representative of the band (I hope I made that clear) so maybe someday if the opportunity arises I will try again. Maybe.

Have to say I'm growing to appreciate Sevendust as musicians more and more. Was this your first try of them? If so, I recommend you try their later works Seasons or Animosity, if I may dare. Excellent review, as usual, though,
Black Star 40.
