I think you convey the overwhelming feeling about this album nicely--if the band doesn't change their style when they change band names and lead singers, it's just going to sound like a previous incarnation with a replacement. As such, when the replacement is inferior to the original, the new project will usually be a dud.
Honestly, I was floating around the web looking for reviews of this album not too long ago...and I remember my own slight surprise at the fact that you hadn't reviewed it. You know, being that you're like STP fan #1 and all. :)
