Hi Deaser,
Yes, good point!, I'm not quite the rock expert!! Exile on Main Street is fantastic and was released in '72, whereas my previous limit to Stones "greatness" was '71 with Brown Sugar.
Whats 12 months between buddies!!
Not quite so compliant about your Beatles comment - I think the Beatles are special because they didn't release a halfarsed album, whereas the Stones released plenty. I have this romantic dream about quitting while you are ahead, rather than suffering a slow decline...
Must be my romantic celtic soul!!
Thanks for dropping by - thoughtful comment as always!
Much respect and hugs!!

Well, not to put to fine a point on it, but Exile on Main Street is head and shoulders better than anything the hapless Stones ever did. It is just my opinion...hehe - but the solos were excellent, the songs were tight and funky and the vocals screamed. I always thought Exile was Mick and Keith's best work, their true maturity as a band.

I can't take Yoko - the voice is less than art and her manipulations still sting. I would have taken a halfassed Beatles album over anything ever done by Wings. John made Paul reach deeper than he would have otherwise done, and Ringo's solo work was summarily unimpressive.
The one who made out like a bandit was George, who was indeed the lost talent in the mix. All Things Must Pass probably would never have happened if the breakup didn't, nor the concert for Bangladesh - two of the most remarkable albums of the early seventies. I am grateful to Yoko for George - but I would have loved a couple of reunion performances - particularly as a counter point to disco.
Well done review and thought provoking, thanks
cheers

Duh!! Should have guessed!
Just what is it about the wide mouthed, rubber lipped, big tongued one that women love?
Ah...OK!!

Hi Kathy,
Yes in a sea of self-indulgent reviews, this one must win an award! - it's a review I have been promising to write since last summer!
There always has to be one who likes post 60's Rolling Stones!! Although I like a few 70's bits and pieces, I have to say that after "Brown Sugar", the cons outweigh the pro's!!
I wasn't expecting any comment to this review, so your dropping by is especially welcome! :o)

Well, I know Yoko singing isn't everyones idea of paradise, but I wanted to redress the criticism that she has received over the years, albeit in a very small way!!
Season of Glass isn't an album I play often, but I am pleased to own it!!
Summer, thanks for dropping by, much appreciated.

1. I like the cover. You describe it perfectly. 2. Oh, the thought of no 70's Rolling Stones is tragic in my opinion! Although, of course, they put out their best stuff in the 60's. 3. I remember reading an interview with Sean Lennon. He absolutely adores his mother and thinks one of her albums with the Plastic Ono band is the best rock album of all time. He says there is a song on it that his mom wrote about sitting at a party while John is in another room having sex with another woman. I don't think Sean liked his dad too much. Well, he did, but he didn't. He spoke so highly of Yoko, I was tempted to give her a try. To this day, I still haven't. Will pass this one by.

listening to this album when I was small because he was fascinated with Yoko! What a memory!
Great review, although I am not sure I'd give this 3 stars!
