Calodar's Full Review: Forosoco [Bonus Tracks] by The Bacon Brothers
I love this album. It it nothing at all like the music I generally enjoy. (Hard rock, punk, alternative, etc) In fact, it has all the makings of an album I would hate. Kevin Bacon is not the world's best singer. The band in the background is, good, no doubt about it, but nothing to write home about. A lot of the songs are heavily laced with a country sound, which in general does not please my ear. And, I usually HATE the southern accent, (I am southern, so dont think I'm a d*mn yankee) which Kevin Bacon has when he sings. In other words, this album should annoy the heck out of me.
As you may have guessed by now, that is not the case. In my opinion, this is a truly great album. The songs are cheery, uplifting, and relaxing. They are incredibly easy so sing along to. The first song on the album, Old Guitars, is a beautiful, emotion filled song in which Kevin Bacon sings about getting his first guitar from a woman he loved, and playing in honor of her memory. Guess Again, the eighth song is another fantastic song. In it, there is more of a comical tone, with Kevin Bacon singing about how great and cool he is, then floats back to reality in the chorus. This is a song everyone can enjoy, because it strikes one of the only nerves that everyone has; wishing you were cooler than you are. Other outstanding songs include Only a Good Woman, Grey-green Eyes, Boys in Bars, and Womans Got a Mind to Change.
All in all, this is an outstanding album, and I'm glad I took the chance to spend a little money on Kevin Bacon. I strongly recommend this album to everyone who loves music in general, and those who in particular like a slower more toned down sound. This is a great album, and I hope the Bacon Brothers make more.
