summatra's Full Review: F.T.T.W. by H2O (Hardcore)
I love H20, well, actually i loved H2O. There first self titled album was brilliant, a perfect mixture of upbeat tempos with classic NYHC. There secong album, Thicker than water, was good, but it you could tell that their recent move to Epitaph records was beggining to effect their music. Finally, with FTTW, we see the demise of a great NYHC band into another West Coast pop act.
The best way to discribe the change is to break it down into two categories.
1. The sound. NYHC is known for having a certain kind of beat. One that changes from fast to slow, harder to even harder. The west coast sound has a constant beat, one drum rif that continues throughout the song. H2O was gone in this direction, and it makes for a worse product.
2. The Lyrics. Gone is all the meaning, all the NYHC references. They are now a west coast band.
in conclusion, Buy a Sick of it all Album, buy H2O's debut, but leave this alone
