terra1's Full Review: Voice of an Angel by Charlotte Church
Charlotte Church
Voice of an Angel
Would you enjoy hearing a lyric soprano singing a range of songs from Danny Boy to Pie Jesu? This is a charming album with songs recorded by Charlotte Church at the tender age of 12. Her a cappella rendition of Amazing Grace ends on a note that can best be described as angelic. In this debut album, Ms. Church includes Welsh songs inspired by her roots in Cardiff Wales. She rounds out this recording with crystal clear vocals of Christian songs like The Lord’s Prayer and Panis Angelicus. I understand that some people who are knowledgeable about opera and classical vocalists do not find her voice pleasing. For me, having less of a musical background, the purity of her voice gives this entire album a holy resonance and an entrée into an intriguing world of vocal music.
