Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to find that CD. I agree- Jakob is doing well on his own. So you like Aerosmith? Me, too! They have excellent songs. And I can just imagine you playing drums and having your parents yell at you for making so much noise. But hey, every musician we listen to went through the same thing, I'm sure. My dad would always play Led Zepplin and drive his mom crazy. So everyone can relate. I'll check out your review soon of that Wallflowers CD. And e-mailing each other? Great. I'd like to do that.

You and I are going to start having to correspond by email! You should really give "Breach" by the Wallflowers a listen. It's way
better than anything on "Bringing Down The Horse" and I liked that one alot. This one is just really good pop with great lyrics. I reviewed it if you want more detail on it. Jakob does have a bit of his dad's traits in his voice, but he's really coming into his own as a songwriter. And I'm sure you do drive your family crazy, but that's what they're there for!! I used to play the drums in my room, so it can't be worse than that! Or blast
Van Halen and Aerosmith from my stereo...
They still love you, I'm sure.
And thank you again for writing back. I also smile when I see you've left me a comment!
Take care.

I actually have not heard the Wallflowers' new CD yet, but I have heard the song, "Sleepwalker", and I do like that song- I swear, Jakob is starting to remind me a lot of his dad! And I didn't know that Tom sang back-up on there- cool. You're right- I am a huge fan of these guys. I probably drive my family nuts by listening to their CDs a lot, but oh, well.

Hey, I just checked out your "page" here to look at your reviews, and I see you've written five, and they're all on Tom Petty!
That explains alot. You really do love this man's music. I think that's wonderful. It just made me smile when I saw that all your reviews concerned him.
What do you think about The Wallflowers new one? I love it. And Tom sings back-up.
Just curious as to your thoughts.
Keep writing.

Thank you sweetie, and no, I didn't get the wrong impression. I liked that you disagreed, and yet still left me a comment.
I truly do appreciate that. You're fair, and I like that too. And I try to be as well. Thank you for your nice words. I do hold high standards for Petty and I haven't liked much of his solo stuff at all. In fact, after you left your comment I went home that night, and I have Tom in my cassette deck - a mix of my favorites - and the guitar lick for "Too Much Ain't Enough" came on, and it's just the coolest sound the way they have it come through one speaker and then the other, and I wondered where Mike Campbell's fire went as well. But I replayed the song seven times!!!
Thank you again for writing and I hope to hear from you at some other review!
Take care...

Thanks for responding. I hope you didn't get the wrong impression. If you honestly did not like this CD, you have every right to say so. It's your opinion. Some people think an artist has some high points in their career and low points, too. You did write a good review, even if some people don't agree. And I have to say, I did admire your sense of sarcasm. It worked for this review. Keep on writing. And Happy New Year to you, too.

Hey angienic2001! I loved your quote by the way, and yes, I guess the review is a little brutal. But Tom Petty has written some of the best pop in history, and if you put even the best on "Echo" up against songs like "I Need To Know" "American Girl" "The Waiting"
"Here Comes My Girl" "Hurt" "Something Big"
"Wasted Life" "You're Gonna Get It" "Too Much Ain't Enough" and on and on and on - these songs would bow their head in allegiance to the greatness of the latter songs.
I ADORE Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I expect a lot from them. I didn't get it here. I'm glad you did. And I'm glad you took the time to post me a comment too. I always like hearing what people are thinking.
Best of luck and Happy New Year!

Ouch. I disagree-I liked this album. To quote from the movie "Tommy Boy"-I'm picking up your sarcasm, and it's very bitter.

This is one of the best music reviews I've ever read. I always liked Petty's old music too; I haven't heard Echo yet. Thanks for sharing! Take care~
