This is the 5th album put out by the wondrous group, London Suede (formerly Suede.) Leaning more towards the Britpop Glamrock (example Velvet Goldmine sound) aspects of music this album not only is full of guitar driven songs but Brett Anderson's vocals whine with androgynous sex appeal.
Doubtful of how strong this album would strike me I picked it up knowing this was Suede's second attempt on an album minus the brilliant Bernard Butler. I loved Coming Up (the 3rd album) but was not sure if they could create something else that was great. When the first track, Electricity, began I was pretty much hooked. The music was sheer brilliance. And the lyrics were most definitely Suede! By the time the CD was over I quickly understood why I loved Suede so much and laughed at the fact that I doubted them to begin with.
I still have yet to find something else that moves me the way Suede does. Listening to this CD now is sort of become a habit. It rocks and whenever I want to hear anything I am always in the mood for Head Music. The singles as well (as with my favorite track Can't Get Enough which has just been released as a three part single) are great. The B-sides and re-mixes for these songs on the album are just amazing.
This is highly recommended for anyone who like Britpop Glamrock or is interested in listening to great music! I have never heard anything so amazing before in a long while from a band in the 90's. I am still baffled by the fact that Suede is huge in every other country besides the USA. I guess we Americans just don't know brilliance when we see it.
