wow... chris summed everything up neatly that i wanted to say in the first place! they _do_ get worse as you listen to them chronologically. and i was gonna suggest that you check out "word gets around" too, but given how much you seem to hate the band at the moment i don't think anything could prove them to you...

as the re-issues of JEEP and YGGTTCB less than a year after their respective original releases with an extra 'bonus' track proves

preach it chris! _this_ is the thing that irritates me the most about the 'phonics these days. money grabbing scum...

That has got to be the worst lyric ever! I just laughed really loud at work. Oops. They ought to be kicked out of Wales. Go Manics!!

Nice job Shelly!

Just wanted to say that those lyrical samples are a complete travesty! I feel for anyone who would put money down on something like this.

Take care...

I would recommend you listen to their debut, "Word Gets Around", but if you found absolutely nothing to love here then there's probably little point. Certainly avoid YGGTTCB unless you're in the mood to write another hate-filled review - in my opinion the Stereophonics albums get worse as you go through them chronologically...

I'm a member of the Stereophonics hate-club, but that's more to do with Kelly Jones being a money-grabbing bastard (as the re-issues of JEEP and YGGTTCB less than a year after their respective original releases with an extra 'bonus' track proves) and his general egomaniacalism than their recent offerings, which have been too bland to really make me feel anything in particular, aside from sleepy.

Great review, as always.

Cheerio,

I think it has something to do with the order I listened to them. I got them the same exact day, but after the bad taste left with JEEP I held off on this album. Performance & Cocktails just made me realize that for sure I didn't like the Stereophonics--not to mention the fact that the album sucked from lyrics through melody and back again.

Thanks for the comment...even if we slightly disagree I still respect 'ya.

Shelly.

okay, so you hate 'em. can't say i blame you... i do too now. you probably don't wanna check out "you gotta go there to come back", their fourth outing. *sigh* i didn't even bother with this one.

but you seem to think that "p & c" is worse than "jeep" for some reason. i kinda thought it was the other way round; some of the songs on here ain't too bad actually. still, yeah, both _weak_ albums. maybe the fact that i like "word gets around" so much swayed me to be more lenient with them.
