It often seems my favorite albums today are the ones I wasn't too sure about at first listen. This is the case with Liquid Skin by Gomez. I bought it on the recommendation of a friend, popped it in my player and wasn't comfortable listening to it until it was on the third spin...in a row. The album is simply that good and that diverse.By the time the last track ends, you can hit play again and almost be surprised by what comes out of your speakers.
Gomez blends world instruments with samples and hooks, gritty vocals with intricate harmonies, the Beatles with beck. It's hard to tell you what the album sounds like because every song is different.
My favorite tracks:
Hangover
Rhythm and Blues Alibi
Bring It On
Revolutionary Kind
Devil Will Ride
