My father has recently started buying and loving Miles Davis albums, so when his birthday rolled around, I went looking for another album for him. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any. I recognized the name Wynton Marsalis, so I grabbed "Reeltime" as a last minute effort at a Jazz trumpet album. I listened to it that night, and my father hasn't had it back."Reeltime" is full of laid-back, Davis-esque songs that roll together seamlessly. "Rosewood", the opening track, combines the amazing voice of Cassandra Wilson with the gentle background of Marsalis' trumpet. It is a beautiful song, and makes me want to stop what I'm doing and listen. The rest of the album is almost as good, with several happy little songs combining banjo and violin, as well as several traditional songs. I recommend this album to anybody who likes jazz, trumpets, spiritual-style, or anybody who would like to hear a truly wonderful musician. The next album I buy will probably be another Wynton Marsalis.
