dupontrocks's Full Review: And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out by Yo La...
Wow, these old indie Gods can still astound. I'm actually new to the Yo La Tengo sound getting on after the Little Honda ep but I've been listening to Matador forever and Yo La Tengo may be the best band on the label. "And then there was nothing" is a sleepy breeze that owes a lot to the Flaming Lips acclaimed "The soft Bulliton" and Massive Attacks lates joint as well.
The wonderlust-filled cottage night disc is highlighted by the optimistic anthem, "You can have it all" kind of a rebuttal of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails most popular song of which the line is the chorus. Yo La Tengo has proven with this album that they will not just go away and may take a seat on the pop legend throne alongside Neil Young someday. Buy this album and you won't be sorry.
