AphexSliter's Full Review: Infest [PA] by Papa Roach
This kind of kickin' hardkore tends to spawn reviews praising the infinite glories of the band in question. There is a reason for that: Papa Roach is easily the best band that falls under the "Limp Bizkit"-ish bands category. Way better than Limp Bizkit itself. This is largely because Papa Roach for the most part avoids the whole "scratching hip-hop" bit and sticks to incredible guitar noise riffs. And stuff.
If you've heard the radio single "Last Resort" then you have some idea of what the Roach approach is to music. Where Bizkit's lyrics speak of the problems of everyday life, like money, women, and in Fred Durst's case, fame, Roach takes a more nihilistic suicidal "NIN" view, with lines like "don't give a f*ck if i lose my arm bleeding" (or close to that). Roach's lead singer Coby Dick has a fresh voice that easily supercedes the whines of Durst as well.
As you may have noticed, I have been comparing Papa Roach with Limp Bizkit a lot. This is because I feel that fans of Bizkit should definitely get this album, and fast. It's cheap, better than Limp Bizkit, and best of all it's distributed on an independent label. La crème de la crème.
