impressions's Full Review: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Original Soundtr...
I don't usually buy soundtracks. It seems to me that soundtracks from action movies tend to contain few original scores and are instead filled with pop songs which make it a compilation of hip songs, which i can happily duplicate via napster/gnutella.
I loved the movie, did you? I believe this was the foremost impetus for me to buy the CD. After the movie was over while the credits rolled I noticed that Tan Dun composed the original score for the film and I guessed that the soundtrack might be quite good. You see Mr Tan is a world class modern Chinese composer, he was commissioned to compose the music for the returning ceremony of Hong Kong to China. Any back to the point, everytime I hear the wrenching theme played by either the orchestra or the solo celloist, mr ma I remember the last scene where Long floats in the clouds. It was a great scene.
