That's right folks, you read the title correctly. Newsboys guitarist, Jody Davis, was once bandmates with "I Love Lucy's" Little Ricky, but that is really the only Davis trivia I know outside of his Newsboys career.
In 1994, Jody Davis joined forces with Peter Furler and John James of the Newsboys, continuing as an integral part of the band even today.
Now Davis, following the lead by Newsboys bassist Phil Joel, has released his self-titled debut album. Fans of the Newsboys will notice the presence of Duncan Philips and Jeff Frankenstein in the musicians section of the CD, however, that is as Newsboys as this album gets.
Lyrically, the songs about love and searching for meaning in one's life. Musically, they kick-butt, what one would expect from such an outstanding guitarist!
Unfortunately, one of the major downfalls of the album is the vocals, not very good. I highly recommend listening to the songs on www.cdnow.com first. Although some of the songs are catchy.
I just bought the album last night, otherwise I would give a rundown of the songs. Check back for updates as I get into the album more.
