Pop has produced another Brittany at the expense of our ears. I just heard her song on the radio, and I honestly thought it was Brittany Spears. You can’t tell the difference. Well can anyone tell the difference between the female pop singers. I don’t think so. I don’t want to whine and cry about pop music forever. Pop suckers are eating up her first single,
“I wanna be bad.”
Willa
From: Florida
Age: 20
Pop Victim: I title her as a pop victim because I found out her original stage name was Mandah. But she changed that because Atlantic records says it sounds too much like Mandy Moore. Yeah the names Willa Ford and Mandy Moore will go down in music history.
Quote: “I’ve always wanted to make a difference, and I will. You can count on that." On behalf of everyone I would like to say that was the most stupid thing a manufactured pop singer could say.
Do we dare break down the lyrics?
To start off it does have a catchy beat, but thats about it. And name one pop song that didn’t have a catchy beat. The beat is what lures you in. But you got to get out before the words come. Well the song is about Willa wanting to be bad, because her man is bad. So she wants this guy to teach her to be bad. Hmmm.....
Oh, I, I,----- I
I wanna be bad, witcha baby
I, I, I, I, I wanna be bad with ya, baby
This is the opening to the song. She uses that voice synthesizer, which Miss Brittany uses oh too often.
Chorus
I wanna be bad
You make bad look so good
I've got things on my mind
I never thought I would
I, I wanna be bad
You make bad feel so good
I'm losing all my cool
I'm about to break the rules
I, I wanna be bad
I wanna be bad with ya, baby
I, I, I, I, I wanna be bad, witcha baby.....
She really is overdoing it with the oxymoron’s here. Making bad feel so good. Well leave it to Pop to kill words. If she’s going crazy on being bad, then why?... I don’t know, and I don’t think anyone knows. This is worse when artists plug their albums into their songs.
Comparisons
Well you can compare her to pretty much any female pop singer. She doesn't stand out. She offers nothing musically. Her voice doesn't have any twists and turns, like Nelly Furtado. She's only a rookie, but already you can see there is no game. Her voice is so much like Brittany Spears its creepy. The looks is what they sell, not the music. It makes you wonder if there really is a factory out there that actually makes a pretty face, and throws them out there.
The Message
I guess Willa's message gets lost in the music. Do parents really want their kids listening to girls talking about being bad with their boyfriends. No one notices the message of pop. Everyone thinks that Rock, and Hip/Hop are the downfall of the world. Pop sends sometimes even worse messages, but disguise it in fast beats. You can clearly see Willa does the same thing in this song. She wants to be bad, because the guy is bad. Yeah, talk about sending a message.
Last Comment
I Give this song a D, because it doesn’t stand out. The beats are nice, but it all has been done before. I think pop artists have a better chance if they came out with ballads first, as cliche as it may sound. Then you can see if they have talent, or not. But thats not the way it works. This review might have been bashing pop more than anything, so I don’t care about the rating. But hey the word has to get out there, Pop is trying to mess with your mind. Don't mix good music up with catchy beats. I would not recommend this song to anyone that thinks on a regular basis.
