bybob's Full Review: Hidden in Plain View [EP] by Hidden In Plain View
Drive-Thru Records newest signee are set to release their second EP (their first one being released on LLR Records). The self-titled EP features four tracks plus a bonus song (the popular 20 Below); which is truly the only down point of the album. The fact that they only have 5 tracks on it.
This five piece band from New Jersey resembles another five piece band from the bowels of Long Island. Both Hidden In Plain View and Taking Back Sunday play a style of contemporary rock which is very similar to one another. It's actually somewhat surprising to find this band on the DTR roster. Guiatar-centered, melody driven and powerful vocals sing heartfelt, passionate lyrics constantly. Whether it be one of the hard hitting songs like Shamans Witch Project or The Chaser or the slower, slightly softer track of Where The Highway Ends, you always find lyrics straight from the heart. Resembling Taking Back Sunday once again, they even have some small spots of dueling vocals where Joe Reo and Rob Freeman shoot vocal duties back and forth.
With this, their second EP, on their backs; HIPV have no where but up to go in their careers. Their debut full length will be highly anticipated by many once it gets close.
