How Wrong You Were... (Reply to this comment)
by marty1982
About this album not going "multi-platinum." It basically wound up being possibly the biggest album of 2004!
Anyway, I'd give it about four stars. Wake Me Up When September Ends didn't need to be played every third song on the radio. And the album does more or less drop off towards the end. But still, I enjoy it.

I beg to differ... (Reply to this comment)

This is the third time I've tried posting this comment...
Anyways, Brian Wilson's SMiLE, completed after FORTY years of speculation, is a masterpeice that simply puts this admittedly wonderful album in a very large shadow...
Of course, the mainstream public will eat this up, not SMiLE, so I'm sure the shadow will be cast the other way.
On Epinion's scale, this is definitley a 5-star album. But don't let SMiLE pass you by.

"Sorry U2" ????? (Reply to this comment)
by JediKermit
I've read several reviews of this, but haven't picked it up yet...I've never been a huge Green Day fan, but they're growing on me. I'll have to give this a listen--yours has been the most compelling review of all. Dammit.
And don't count U2 out just yet.
November 23rd.

It's fun making you jealous Mike...or need I bring up that you missed last year's Buffalo show, AKA the greatest show the band ever played?

Fantastic writeup... (Reply to this comment)
by shilmafone
...on this fantastic album. You did a great job of capturing the music here, pointing out the influences. Plus, the fact that I agree with you on pretty much every word you wrote helps. ;)
Color me shocked to see a potshot at Pearl Jam! That was unexpected.
Nice job,

Best Album of 2004... Maybe? (Reply to this comment)
by thevoid99
I heard clips of this record. I'm in shock. I didn't expect for them to get this good. The boys really took their playing and songwriting to a new level. I'm impressed. I'm not sure if I will review this but right now, this gets my vote for album of the year. Great review Matt.
