Hey cecile!
LOL... maybe Daniel should take some tips, and but L'Oreal instead. He probably uses some cheap stuff like Rimmel.
Ah yes, "Someone New" is a very pretty little song.. Eskobar can be pretty for the most part, but sometimes they just annoy me. He annoys me, LOL.
Thanks for the comment m'dear!

Runny mascara sucks. Thank God my mascara from L'Oreal is great. Because as they say in the ads, I'm worth it.
The only song from Eskobar I know is "Someone new", it's a duet with Heather Nova and was a huge hit in France. It's quite a pretty song.
*hugs*

MQS!
Who names these people? Are their parents all members of Sadists International?
Bahahaha.. I love the name! It makes me think he should be a character in a Shakspearian comedy. And, not only Sadists International, but Swedish Sadists International. I'm so glad I have a normal name. I almost got Vilhelm after my Father's brother.
Oooh, I want to go to Camp Britpop next summer! Will they have horseback riding and arts&crafts?
LOL! It would certainly be a place I'd like to visit, also. There would be everything you said, and more, like a food fair, where you can drink tea and sample delicious cream scones.
Well, at least he took your suggestion about the mascara.
Oh indeed.. but he really doesn't need the make-up.. he's quite pretty enough.
Everybody knows you can't be sexy with smudgy eye rings. I don't know that they necessarily affect the whole "prowess" thing though.
You know, that's absolutely correct. I remember, many years ago, attending a Rocky Horror fancy dress as Dr Frank, with make-up and everything.. I was terribly drunk, and the sight the following morning was NOT pretty.
But I suppose one doesn't get to show off their prowess if they aren't sexy to begin with. Oh, the vicious, vicious circle.....
Oh it is.. it is!
Of course, I've never heard of the band, but angsty, smudgy, insectile ballads can't be all bad......;)
Definitely not all bad... but I'm still having trouble finding the love for this band, which makes for odd rivalry in my household.
Kent are still way better (and sexier)
Cheers m'dear!

songs that firmly belong in Camp Britpop

Ooops, sorry - spending too much of my time around little kids......
Bellqvist relinquishing his naval gazing for proclamations of self sexiness and prowess

I think you should review them... and thrash them hard. That'll teach him to write his own reviews.
But do a better band first... like KENT.

Lizzzzzzzzzzzzzz,
Don't you hate when the album's first track is so much better than the rest of the album?
I do! I feel so cheated. bands are so silly sometimes, they ought to realise by now that they should put the better tracks at the end, that way you subliminally think you've heard a really great album because you're left on a high.
On the other hand, I also hate when an album doesn't start with a strong track. So maybe I hate everything.
That too! Lookit, silly bands, listen to our advice!
Anyway, I'm not sure Eskobar would be my thing. The Jeff Buckley meets early Suede comparison is promising, but watered down Britpop doesn't.
They might be a bit too mellow for you, and their first 2 albums irritate the heck out of me.
Some of those lyrics look pretty nifty though. Now when I think Eskobar, I shall think bug-eyed flies with smudged mascara saying "urrrrrrr".
Oh yes, I can't take away Bellqvist's nifty song writing abilities, he's pretty good with a pen, some paper and his random thoughts.
Pimpin' review!
Thank you muchly, with jimmies on top.
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeers m'dear,
David.

PS.. yes, the whiny brat is very happy... though he now wants me to review the other 2.
If I do that, there will be carnage!

C,
Oh, absolutely. I can cope with Eskobar in small doses, and this is certainly the best album they've done. I don't know what it is, since normally I'd go for this type of thing.. I've been spoiled you see, with all those better bands.. like KENT.
Fret not, more Kent reviews shall come to pass.
:)
Cheers!

"Cold Night" is undoubtedly the track that stands above the rest, it borders on brilliant, almost. It's just a shame that the rest of the album doesn't really live up to its standards.
Don't you hate when the album's first track is so much better than the rest of the album? Cos, like, you put the album in and hear that first track and think, Hey, this album is great!, but then the next song starts and you're like, This is not good, and the next song starts and you're like, Lookit, this sucks.
On the other hand, I also hate when an album doesn't start with a strong track. So maybe I hate everything.

Yep, you nailed this group right on the head here. Mellow, pleasant and far from obnoxious but with not quite enough kick for me. I like them well enough and they're perfect when I want something softer, but I doubt they'll ever be in the top rotation level.
Now, get back to reviewing important stuff like Kent!
