Just when you thought the guys from the Backstreet Boys would never create another album; they have come back with Never Gone--an album with loads of soft ballads and an album that shows the guys maturity. The guys are set out to prove that they are never gone and Never Gone may make that statement or just fall flat right on its a**! Here on Never Gone is THE side that you've never heard nor seen before. This is Never Gone by the Backstreet Boys.
Incomplete:
For the group's first sing--Incomplete, they start the album just like it is--soft ballad. For this track, the beats are a mellow and melodic piano and soft yet hits on the drums with clashes. This whole group gets sharper and louder for the chorus and the bridge. Great beats are in this track. The group's vocals are amazing since they have been out of the spotlight for some quite while. Nick Carter's vocals are the strongest. He makes his singing just so damn soulful yet intense when he sometimes cries/screams his part out. The group is awesome on this track but Nick is the highlight. The group shows a lot of intense emotion during this track and they have strong vocals on this track. The lyrics are really good and creative but they are short length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
I've tried to go on like I never knew you
I'm awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I'm going to be is incomplete
Just Want You To Know:
Let's see if Incomplete really started the track off with a bang. For this intense yet teeny boppery. The beats are a weird technical sound that reminds me of Kelly Clarkson's Since You've Been Gone and soft hits on the drums mixed in with an electric guitar. The beats really don't mix well since this is mostly a ballad album. Plus, the rock-style beats don't go well with the group anyway. The group's vocals are really good. They have strong vocals with amazing emotion while singing this track but the beats just ruin this whole track. The lyrics are really good and creative; they are also medium-length. Replay Value: 2/5 Overall: 2/5
I just want you to know that I've been fighting to let you go
Some days I make it through and then there's nights that never end
I wish that I could believe that there's a day you'll come back to me
But still I have to say I would do it all again
Just want you to know
Crawling Back To You:
Maybe we'll get back to the ballads on this track. For this ballad, the beats are a soft piano in the background then into deep and kind of intense picks on an electric guitar with deep hits on the drums. They go really well and it kind of reminds me of Incomplete. The group's vocals are amazing on this track. The chorus is the highlight of the track because it is an intense and heartfelt moment filled with amazing vocals by the group. Still, Nick Carter is the main highlight of the group. The whole group though is still amazing for this ballad. The lyrics are really creative and are long-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
Banging on your front door
My pride spilled on the floor
My hands and knees are bruised and I'm crawling back to you
Begging for a second chance
Are you gonna let me in?
I was running from the truth and now I'm crawling back to you
Weird World:
For this track, the beats are a soft melody with soft clashes, deep hits on the drums with maybe an electric guitar. They go well to create the mood that intends to make. Unfortunately, I don't know what the hell kind of mood it is going for but what the hell, the song is good! The group's vocals here are really good. They are soulful all together. Nick Carter sings all the verses(THANKS). He does amazing on those verses. His voice is soulful with emotion. The others do great too but I doubt that you'll even notice them because of Nick's vocals. The lyrics are really good and creative. They are long-length lyrics. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
It's a weird world don't you know it?
It's a weird world and it won't slow down
It's a weird world no matter how you roll it
Hey hey hey sweet baby
There's a way, just stand up and fight it
Hey hey hey
Never give up and don't let it wear out, your love
It's a weird world, yeah
I Still...
For this love ballad, the beats are sharp hits on the drums with a piano in the background with an electric guitar and medium clashes. For a love ballad, this isn't a soft one but it is still good. No rock-style is included!! The group's vocals are excellent on this track. Nick is still the highlight with his soulful and just simply amazing vocals. The whole group does an excellent job creating what they intend to do--sing excellent. The lyrics are really good and creative. They are short-length though. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
I still need you
I still care about you
Though everything's been said and done
I still feel you
Like I'm right beside you
But still no word from you
Poster Girl:
We all have dreams of a gorgeous girl that looks like she came off a magazine. For this teeny boppery track, the beats are soft clashes with deep hits on the drums with a piano tune in the background. The beats create and go well with the mood that it is going for. The group's vocals are excellent. They sing pretty fast for the verses but does somewhat slow but yet fast on the chorus. This time, nobody really stands out. The WHOLE group is fantastic. They have amazing and soulful vocals on this track. The lyrics are really creative and are very long-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
That the consequences of your actions really are just a game
That your life is just a chain reaction taking you day by day
She says nothing's forever in this crazy world
Still I'm falling in love with the right now poster girl
Lose It All:
Can this track lose it's class like the rest of the songs and turn the wrong way or just follow in their footsteps? The beats for this ballad are a soft piano with an acoustic guitar and a weird echoing technical sound. Then, all the beats deepen up with deep hits on the drums. Great beats! The group's vocals are good but they seriously lack the polish during the verses. They just seem like they sing soft and low. The chorus however is excellent. Contains tons of emotion and vocal power. Nobody again stands out in this one. The lyrics are really good and creative. They are medium-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 4/5
And if I lose it all
There'll be nothing left to lose and I would take the fall
'Cause knowing you are out there breathing
It's so wonderful, it's a chance I take even if I break it
I lose it all, if I lose it all
Wouldn't matter anyway
Climbing The Walls:
For this melodic ballad, the beats are a lot like John Mayor. The beats are a mellow acoustic guitar with soft clashes and hits on the drums. A very mellow track. The group's vocals are excellent through-out. This time, they sing loud enough you can hear them on the verses. No, I don't mean they scream it all out. They just sing soulfully and emotionally. This is another track that is heartfelt. The group's vocal work is simply great. Nick Carter stands out on this track. The lyrics are creative and medium-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
No, I can't ever let you go
You're a part of me, now
Caught by the taste of your kiss
And I don't wanna know the reason why I can't stay forever like this
Now, I'm climbing the walls cause I miss you
Beautiful Woman:
Everybody wants a beautiful woman right? Except for people who like the same sex gender. The beats here are really weird on this track. They seem like country meets rock. The beats are a very acoustic guitar that seems like a country guitar with hard picks on an electric guitar with deep and sharp hits on the drums. Country-style clashes are mixed in as well. They are very weird at first and seem like the beats aren't the group's type but then it goes into an intense rock song. The group's vocals are amazing even though they almost scream the lyrics out but their vocal work is still good, soulful and when you hear it, they show all emotion. Nick Carter still stands out in this track with his Justin Timberlake style singing. The lyrics are really good and creative. They are somewhat medium-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
Let's not talk about a possible ending
Let's not think about it every day
And I know
I'm so
In love
With you
I'm finding it harder and harder to breath
Every time I'm near
A beautiful woman
Safest Place To Hide:
Why is the group going to hide? Beautiful Woman was a good song. The beats for this track are a soft piano playing in the background with violins playing in with it. Then, sharp yet soft hits on the drums come in the mix. This is a soft ballad that is very heartfelt. The group's vocals are extraordinary. It is truly emotion that is full of soul. No one really stands out on this track because they all do really. This is one of the best vocal work on the album. The lyrics are really good and creative. They are medium-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
I know I promised you forever
Is there no stronger word I can use
To reassure you when the storm is raging outside
You're my safest place to hide
Can you see me, here I am
I need you like I needed you then
When I feel like giving up
I promise inside your heart I still find
You're my safest place to hide
Siberia:
What kind of title for a song is this? Oh well, it's time to score this track up. The beats for this soft and melodic ballad, are very soft hits on the drums with a weird country-style acoustic guitar. At the bridge, it deepens up with deep hits on the drums and the acoustic guitar gets switched over into a soft electric guitar. At first, they are really weird and kind of stupid but soon, you'll warm up to them. The group's vocals here are excellent once again. The guys do great on the verses(soulful and somewhat has emotion in it) but oh how excellent the vocal work is on the chorus. Why the chorus is so good because of it's emotion in it. It really isn't much but the way the guys sing it is just excellent. They sing slow but not too slow. While doing this, they vocals are soulful. The lyrics are really good and creative. The lyrics are long-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
Then my heart did time in Siberia
Was waiting for the life to come true
'Cause it's all so dark and mysterious
When the one you want doesn't want you too
Never Gone:
Well, we come to a close in the album. Maybe the album will end off with a good ending. For this last and mellow track, they beats are a piano playing with soft but deep hits on the drums and sharp yet soft clashes. Then it kind of deepens up for the last 1 minute or so. They contain just deeper notes of the beats. This is a very heartfelt track indeed with it's beautiful beats. The group's vocal work is simply amazing. The verses are the best though. They are extremely soulful filled with a lot of emotion. The chorus is still emotional and soulful but the verses has a lot of it while the chorus has it but not as much as the verses. No body really stands out but Nick Carter is almost the highlight of this track's vocal work. The lyrics are really creative and are really long-length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
Never gone
Never far
Never gone, never far
In my heart is where you are
In my heart is where you are
Always close
Always close (always close)
Everyday
Everyday (everyday)
Every step along the way
Every step along the way
Even though for now we've gotta say goodbye
Even though for now we`ve got to say good-bye
I know you will be forever in my life (yeah)
I know you will be forever in my life
Never gone
Never gone
Bottom Line:
For not being a fan of the group(NSYNC fan), I found Never Gone to be a fantastic album filled with soft but sometimes intense ballads. The production is amazing while the vocals are extraordinary and possibly the best the fans have ever heard. Plus, the lyrics will be loved by the girls while the guys will relate to them. Like I said, the album is mostly love ballads BUT don't let that cool you off. The album is extremely a great one that NOT a fan should ever wish to miss. Oh and you can bet your a** that the BackStreet Boys are back, better and are never gone.
