Chris_Gerhard's Full Review: Germ Free Adolescents [Expanded] by X-Ray Spex
Poly Styrene wrote an album's worth of songs and sang in her usual screeching monotone with a typical punk backing group adding a saxophone. The result is great if you like British punk and I do. The Clash, Sham 69, and to a lesser extent, at least for me, The Sex Pistols are the only British Punk groups from the 70's that I like. In fact those are the only ones I can think of as I write this. This expanded version of "Germ Free Adolescents" adds 11 songs to the classic album including 7 live songs making 23 songs (some are repeated live). The result is a compilation CD that I found preferable to the DVD-Audio release from Silverline. Sound quality is very good for CD considering the age of the recordings.
Not much can be said about the music which must sound like annoying noise to some, you either like it already, or at least like punk and will love this release or you will want to avoid this like the plague. Highly recommended for fans of the genre. The two disc CD "Anthology" adds more live recordings and must be awesome as well but I have not heard it.
