Opinion Summary
Electric Blue: Erasure's Andy Bell Goes For A Long Night Out With the Girls
by plorentz | Feb 24 '06
Pros: Strong first half, clubby focus, and some of Andy Bell's best lyrics in ages
Cons: The album loses its focus later on, becoming maudlin and moody

Brian-

Sometimes I wonder if your compliments are actually compliments. But I'll take them anyway. Thanks for the vote of "Most Whatever".

I just gave this review a Most Helpful, and i don't think i believe that's correct, really - as a consumer guide this essay is fine, but "helpfulness" isn't the adjective i want to praise you with, just the one provided. It would be helpful that you interpret the lyrics, i guess, but they don't read as cryptic, and besides, i don't need translations of an album i'll never buy.

But i suppose that's the "help": until now, Erasure's long career had interested me exactly once, when they sucked the rap out of Blondie's "Rapture" and left something inapt, glorious, and symphonic. Now, for a few extra minutes, they've helped bring me something interesting for a second time. As long as they're out there, they might as well. Cool.

cheers,
- Brian
