PBrady's Full Review: Kind of Blue [Remaster] by Miles Davis
About a year ago, my father decided I needed to be exposed to real jazz, not just the stuff that they play on the radio. He went to a music store, and picked up a copy of this album. I listened once, and was hooked. Miles Davis is without a doubt my favorite trumpet player, and probably my favorite jazz musician. This album is one of my two favorites--the other being "Sketches of Spain."
Davis is in fine form throughout the album, soaring over the background played by people who should be out in front . . . this is a very high-powered group. All the 'backup' players are in fact respected musicians, and as they play together, the sound is overwhelming. They have truly mastered their style, and it is beautiful to listen to. I recommend this album to anyone--even if you don't think you like jazz, you will love this album. Davis plays beyond himself, and advances a new type of sound.
