That is one..... (Reply to this comment)

That is one eclectic mix of music. Echo & The Bunnymen and Grandmaster Flash. What a release to throw on the stereo when friends are over or during a party.
Might have to Amazon mark that one.
Thanks,
George

Yaz made it to Salem, Wisconsin too! I very clearly remember them as a three hit wonder thanks to WKTI in Milwaukee!
I generally stay away from stuff like this, but I might get it only because I was so encouraged by the Motown Remixed album that came out last summer. Different players, for sure - but Rhino rarely lets me down.

Hmmmm.. (Reply to this comment)

This sounds interesting, although Rhino has gone to this well several times before. First with "Everybody Dance" (which remixed old disco hits) and then with "What Is Hip?", which remixed soft-rock staples from the Seventies. Would have been nice had they licensed some stuff from outside of the Warner Brothers family though.
Nice review, although I'd be hesitant to call Yaz a one-hit wonder. Well, I'm sure there are as many people that would call them a no-hit wonder (if I remember correctly, "Situation" was a minor hit on the Black charts, but never charted pop) as they would a three-hit wonder. I still hear "Don't Go" and "Only You" on the radio pretty often, but I guess they were just a regional thing. New York has always been a dance-centric city anyway.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent...
Mike
