We're only gonna die

Written: Jul 29 '03
Pros:28 scorching hardcore tracks by one of the best punk bands, ever.
Cons:some might not be used the sound quality
The Bottom Line: Excellent cd. must have for any punk fan.

I got this album after buying "No Control", and i was starting to get into hardcore. Then i purchased "Complete discography" by minor threat and "milo goes to college" by the descendents. So when I found out that Bad religion had a compilation of thier early work i went and bought it right away. This album is a compilation is basicaly 3 and a half albums one one cd.

The first 14 tracks are from the LP "How could hell be any worse?". it starts out with the fast and agressive track "were only gonna die". The first Thing you will notice is the sound quality. It will take some getting used to if you aren't familer with some of the early punk albums. The second thing you will notice is Greg Graffin's voice is VERY different.

The next 6 tracks are from the first self titled "Bad Religion" ep. The sound quility on these 6 tracks are even worse than the previous 14. It starts of with the first of 3 versions of thier theme song "Bad Religion". One the other tracks, at times the vocals seem to be too loud over the music.

the next five tracks are from the "back to the known"ep( you will also notice that "into the unknown"is absent from this album hmmm.... i wonder why.) These tracks sound like tracks from "Suffer". They sound newer with much better quality and greg graffin's voice is different. And has the second version of bad religion, which is slower and the music stops when greg sings the verse's.

The final 3 tracks are from the "public service" ep which had a few other bands on it. It contains the last version of bad religion, a second version of "drastic actions", and a second version of "slaves". These tracks are heavier and faster than the originals and you can tell that they were recorded before "back to the known" by the way greg's voice sounds. The only thing I dislike about these tracks are the cybols are being played throughout the entire song on all three which really takes away fom the songs.
