The Bottom Line: Dire Straits has some strong messages and passionate music playing that still apply today in this album/CD. There is no other Mark Knopfler on guitar or vocals or lyrics.

For over 20 years, Love Over Gold has had fellow Leo, Mark Knopfler, sending out profound messages to the universe through his lyrics, vocals, and guitar talent. For starters, the title and soundtrack and of course themed message of "Love Over Gold"'s some good stuff to take to heart; no words to be taken for granted there, indeed.
As for Telegraph Road - well, the only way to describe its fervour is simply to experience it. One could write an entire book on the song; it is that amazing in its design. The mindblowing realization of man's progression from simple fields and wilderness to thousands of towns and metropolises is astounding through the eyes of Telegraph Road, but there's so much more to the song than that. What other songs start with a gentle rustle that gradually builds and finish with one of the most blazing, passionate finales ever created? It is no mistake that this progression not only mirrors a climactic, sexual explosion, but the gradual upheaval of nature and mankind's introduction into the complexities and frustrations of modern day communication and technology. The internet and cell phones weren't even around when this song was written, but it's all the more pertinent today. The sign of a true classic- that will be around as long as these recordings are...The song is just plain sexy. It's for this reason I say it must be experienced and felt in its entirety.
The other songs are equally as reliable in their own right and much like a good novel you can keep coming back over and over to experience something new. If you study the lyrics it really makes you want to jump up and meet the man/artist. Thus the profound integrity of Dire Straits and M.K. shining through. Knowing what's important, and what's not.
