Pros:Simon LeBlanc and that special someone
Cons:without sexy John Taylor's bass skills
The Bottom Line: When the day is long, hectic, and you need someone special to unwind you, this voice and cut ROCKS gently !
His sultry Brit accent and gentle cajoling voice can make the tightest wound spring become uncoiled in about the first minute of this cut. Simon LeBlanc is one voice you can really count on . . . "Come Undone" with them.
This is the groups, Duran Duran, 24th single also found as the second cut of “The Wedding Album“ (1993) which carries thirteen original pieces (15 if you count the two on a Japan produced album of same title). It is one of my all-time favorite pieces from the 80’s and this particular British pop group.
This was a tune that set them apart from mainstream ’teen-pop- and shifted focus to a more mature crowd in the Adult Contemporary genre. This single as well as many of their albums, specifically The Wedding Album, honored them with a second consecutive hit in the US and because of equal and highly anticipated recognition, was devoured by the UK and international markets.
The video which accompanies "Come Undone" [Maxi Single] by Duran Duran is unique in that, thanks to the London Aquarium, offers a true underwater experience in which the ‘coming undone’ represents leaving the watery womb stage of our existence and coming out into a ferocious world. The chaos lead singer, Simon Le Blanc, describes is a beacon in that chaos, the one person or thing that can make a person wound too tight, come undone.
It is unfortunate that the accompaniment of John Taylor usually on bass, is not on this single however appears to be playing bass in the video. John Jones and Nick Rhodes, replace Taylor so its not like some of their other cuts.
Simon LeBlanc decided to offer the lyrics of "Come Undone" [Maxi Single] by Duran Duran as a birthday present to his wife whom he felt was that beacon in which he could always come home to and forget the troubles of being a 'performer in demand' on the road. The song is soft, gentle, undulating like a small crest between a turbulent sea of dreams, distortions and desires. It is highly sexual when you proceed to listen for 4 minutes and 38 seconds of a unique guitar hook and an incredible instrumentation credited to the mind of Warren Cuccurullo, and the harmonious marriage between synthesizers and rhythm guitars.

“This song just makes you ask yourself "who is it, that you have in your life that can stitch you back together the way your supposed to be, not the way they want you to be stitched, should you unravel and come undone ?" "Who do you need, who do you love when you come undone ?"
I could of rambled on as this piece is ONE of the songs that puts everything into a better perspective as trust and partnership is highly valued. To be in sync with the undulations of the cosmic wave, this song highlights love, respect, denial and even abandonment issues. Yet it is quite pleasing and enticing to bring out the hunger and undoubtedly satiate it !
"Come Undone" [Maxi Single] by Duran Duran is a beautiful song with an exceptional video background ! I love it and highly recommend it to be part of your scintillating escape from chaos, boredom and distress into ‘coming undone’ and feeling blessed . . . Roughly around $1.50 at your local Compact Disc and Record shops across the country.
Thank you for reading and
Enjoy !
