Dear BrianKoller: You have a fine piece of work here.
You might mention that we now have almost the entire original film of 140 minutes.
Also, I might question that ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT is a MUCH better film than APOCALYPSE NOW or BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI. What ALL QUIET ON THE EASTERN FRONT did was lay out a blueprint for all that followed.
It would be interesting, again, to know, did ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT influence the homegrown great WESTFRONT 1918 (G.W. Pabst, also 1930) or vice versa? The latter is a very impressive piece on a similar story line.
I look forward to reading more of your reviews.
