First off, I am NOT a movie buff, truthfully, I dislike movie theaters very much. But I've liked Richard Dreyfuss ever since I saw "Close Encounters", even though I was a teenager at the time. My husband thoroughly enjoys movies and asked me to go see this one and I semi-reluctantly said yes.
I won't go into the plot, because I don't want to take away from it. But let me say this, when we left the theater, I stopped my husband by the car and just held onto him and cried, for about 15 minutes. The movie reminded me that love is precious and losing a loved one is painful. Watching Richard Dreyfuss suffer as he watched his girlfriend mourn his death and watching her suffer through his death brought a real awareness to "cherishing what you have, while you have it".
As I cried, I just kept telling my husband, "don't you die before me". I just don't want to have to learn to go on. But I think the movie did a great job of showing that life does go on and we can either join in or be left out.
Although this movie doesn't use the special effects that "Ghost" did, I think it rates right next to it in story, actors/actresses, romance, everything. If you liked "Ghost", I truly think, you'll love "Always".
Even though it's a real tear jerker, it's a very romantic movie. So if you think your significant other needs a refresher course in romance, this is a great movie to go see.
