I think I got burned out on this one (Reply to this comment)
by artbyjude
At the time my 14 year old stepson was trying to get us to buy him a 22 rifle, and the parallels were just too much for me. I was also afraid of having a loaded gun too close, being kind of irritable by nature. I watched this one only in passing in the way to the kitchen to cook another meal for the extended family, always at my house for the holidays. I was sure glad when they all went home. Bah Humbug! Loved the review though! :) Jude

There's A Sequel To This???!!! (Reply to this comment)

Ewww! I didn't know that. Yikes!
Great review, Beastie!
I have a question: were you joking when you said that Peter Billingsley reminded you of Messy Marvin in the Hershey's Syrup commercials? Messy Marvin WAS played by Peter Billingsley. I know, I know. From chocolate drinks to BB guns. What a career, huh? LOL.
Sincerely, Joe5283

great review, great title, just great. i'll join the chorus in saying that christmas isn't christmas without this on (though i also include Christmas Vacation and It's a Wonderful Life in my annual holiday watchings). i'm also a big fan of the leg lamp. wonderful scene. but, then, it's a wonderful movie all around. i've heard of the sequel, but have actively avoided it. until they start playing it on tbs and tnn and usa over and over and over, i refuse to see it. :)
take care,
chad.

.
You have perfectly captured the fun 'spark' of this movie. Truly a Christmas 'must-see' classic...:-)
And I saw that sequel for the first time recently. I couldn't watch. I thought a friend had died. . .the movie was so bad...:-(
And I was so sad...
Very..nicely..done !!

Have the video and it is on every time this time of year.
This is one family who loves this show. My favorite part is when they opened the leg lamp.=) very funny =)
I felt bad for the little guy being bundled up in that snowsuit and falling.
People in those days did bundle their children up like that.
Great review!

Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie! (Reply to this comment)
by rice75
No, daddy's not gonna kill Ralphie.
Hahahah, I love this movie. Melissa is right, Christmas isn't Christmas without it. My holiday season doesn't begin until I've watched it all the way through.
It has a little more meaning to me because it was filmed in Cleveland (my hometown) and a high school friend of mine was an extra during the scene when they went to see Santa Claus.
"You'll shoot your eye out, kid. Ho Ho Ho."
Great review.
