... while I accept that I will never, nor do I want to, be able to review every film I see and enjoy I am constantly amazed by your reviews. Films that I have seen with my Gram, films that I never expected anyone else to review... you blow me away. You take me back. You remind me why I enjoyed them so.

Although it is striking that the film was not even nominated for the best picture César, the field of Oscar nominees that year was remarkably anemic. The best French film of the year, "Carmen," did not get nominated (not the fault of Academy voters). If it had been, I'm quite sure it would have won instead.
