stockholder's Full Review: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
I deleted one of my reviews. My original thought was to be able to reach people that wanted to rent E.T for .99 cents and reach the people that wanted to spend $8 at the movie theater. I submitted the same review twice because in my Epinion there is not substantial difference between E.T on video and E.T on the big screen. The watch dogs on Epinions thought diffrently.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
After 20 years children and adults alike are enjoying
E.T. I remember when this movie first came out in 1982. If you did not take your kids to see this movie, it was almost like a sin, like you were a bad father for not taking the time to introduce your children to such an out of this world story. I think most of the half-witted parents in the 80’s thought this movie was a documentary about a real extra-terrestrial and thought this was some sort of great learning experience. At the time I was drinking about a case of beer a day and several girlfriends demanded most of my attention. So, my kids waited to see this on video. I remember it was the second movie I ever watched on our first ever VCR. (The first movie was a porno I found in the back of a taxi.) I remember waking up early on a Saturday morning surprising my two youngest children with E.T on video. My kids thought they were the only children alive that did not see this movie, they considered it a form of neglect, like I went a month without feeding them, I remember telling my son about a billion people in Africa that never saw E.T and if they did they would cook him and eat him for dinner.
Twenty years ago I underestimated this movie. I remember my youngest got so excited that I brought home E.T she started to throw-up. I was just thinking it would be a movie filled with Hollywood hype and sappy Shit. But I was wrong, this little E.T blind- sided me in the worst way. When we started watching this movie, the first thing I remember was being very attached to all of the characters, the next thing I remember is crying my butt off. Here I am, A man in his early fifty’s crying over some made up alien that looks like Willie Mcgee. My children would have sacrificed me, their father, to bring this E.T back to life. Our lives seemed to have changed from that moment, my kids saw their father crying his eyes out for the first time without being drunk and my kids suddenly thought life was boring, because they did not have an extra-terrestrial in their house. Needless to say this movie had a humongous impact twenty years ago.
Now, when I found out this movie was being re-released to the big screen, I took my grandson to see E.T. I was prepared this time and did not want to give in to the lump in my throat. But, I could not help it, before the movie was finished we were both crying like babies. On the way home my little grandson was laughing at me and called me a pus.sy for crying. Needless to say this movie still has a humongous impact.
Bottom Line
This will probably be the most watched movie ever before it is all said and done. It was so well done the first time; I don’t think they needed to add anything. I am very happy a new generation will be able to enjoy this emotional masterpiece.
