This is a movie which you have probably seen part of. It is one of those movies that pop up on cable-late at night- while your flipping through the channels and you watch for 15 to 20 minutes. It is a little abstract but once you are in the flow of the movie it is a great story. Set in a futuristic society, it had no real special effects, but the human drama of it is incredible.
In the future it is ileagle to have, own, or even read books. Their daily news comes is comic strip form and all literature is controlled by the government. All houses are fireproof and firemen are actually thought police who burn peoples caches of hidden books.
It reminds me of George Orwells 1984, or even the movie Brazil a little. It is well acted but not overly heavy on dialouge. It uses imagery and symbolism to get its point across. It is definately a comment on censorship, I am actually suprised that, with free speech on the internet issues, that this movie hasnt had more acclaim or been pointed to as a road not to go down.
