millerdolphins's Full Review: Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
Some of the best movies are movies that we can relate to. A movie where we have been there and know what the character is going through. A good example of this is Ferris Buellers Day Off. Who hasnt been there? I mean seriously, I bet we can all look back to the long, boring day at high school. For me, high school was a complete drag. Without the occasional day off, I would have gone crazy. I actually first watch Ferris Buellers Day Off while I was still in high school, which made me relate to it even more.
Ferris is a high school senior who is only a month away from graduating when he decides to take a day off from school to go out on the town.
Ferris fakes sick and his parents soon buy into it. They tell him to stay home and get better. After acting like he doesnt want to miss school because he has a test, Ferris agrees to stay home. His parents leave, and are soon out the door and on their way to work. Ferris, mightily proud of himself, gets out of bed and prepares for the day. He calls his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck), who is home really sick, and convinces him to come over.
Ferris now has his best friend, but he is still missing someone, his girlfriend, Sloane (Mia Sara) who is in school. Ferris soon comes up with a plan. Cameron calls their high school principal, George Roony, and poses as Sloanes dad. Roony becomes suspicious but Ferris is aware and covers his tracks. He calls Roony while Cameron, posing as Sloanes dad, is on the other line with Roony. Roony is in shock when he knows that Ferris called so he knows its not Ferris on the other line, trying to get Sloane out of school. Roony apologies, to whom he now believes is Sloanes dad. Sloane is released soon after.
It is seen that Ferris has become pro at getting out of school and he uses all that he knows to make another day successful. Roony knows that something fishy is going on. He puts it on his personal agenda to reveal Ferris for what he really is, a rebellious, mischievous kid, who should spend another year in high school.
While Ferris is out on the town with his friends, attending high class restaurants and going from one place to another, Roony is doing all that he can to catch Ferris. Roony fails miserably, and ends up being harmed more than Ferris after he attempts to brake into Ferriss house. Roony is attacked by a dog and later hit in the head with a frying pan by Ferriss sister. Despite Roonys attempt to ruin Ferriss day, Ferris with luck and skill has another successful day out loose on the town.
I loved this movie for a few reasons. First of all, I could relate to it. I understood Ferris and why he went to such extremes to get out of school. Some say it may have been to extreme, but for me I would take those extreme measures just to get out of school.
Secondly, I found Ferris to be quite funny. His ideas where out there, but kept me laughing. The movie overall was just hilarious, and I loved the humor of it.
And last but not least, I loved the plot of the movie. It was overall clean, and I didnt have to worry about there being any indecent scenes. I was able to just sit down, relax and enjoy the movie.
There were a few things that I didnt like about the movie, but there is only one worth mentioning and that is the bad language that would occasionally be encountered. I dont know why so many movies have to be polluted with bad language, but for what ever reason this movie had it. I dont know how many times I heard some bad language, but it seems like it was in just about every other scene. It wasnt as bad as some movies, but it was noticeable. Personally I think the movie would have benefited without those words being added.
Overall, I found Ferris Buellers Day off amusing and just plain fun to watch. I would recommend it to anyone. Besides the bad language, it is a pretty clean movie.
