HA! There's no way that trade's going through--I'd book a flight to Pittsburgh to stop it myself.
I think Clarke will offer Lindros the world, but Eric sure sounds like he's made up his mind not to play for them again--and I can't really say that I blame him. I'm no fan of Eric Lindros, but even I felt sorry for the stuff he went through at the hands of the organization last year.
I see Recchi's back and LeClair should be back by maybe next week--I suspect you guys will start putting together some wins.

hmmm, Clarke is indeed making noises like he's got to do something. Lindros doesn't even want to talk to him, but my guess is Clarke'll offer some kind of sweetheart deal to Lindros, then trade him to a contender for something.
I just hope it's something good.
BTW, i would trade Lindros and Gagne to Pittsburgh for Jagr in a heartbeat. Disgruntled you say? All the better (evilly stroking phantom mustache).

Detailed, interesting, compelling, and very generously reviewed.
Nice Job.
When it came out.. 1 was a pretty good slasher film and 2 was slightly above average. From 3 on, (from the almost non-existant 3d effects), the gore factor has been ratcheted downward ever since.
6 had a little bit of promise but remains a waste of time.
7 has a friend of mine it.... and is still not worth seeing.
Dull formula films that no longer bother to give us even decent gore effects.
Who needs this stuff?

Yeah, it was a magnificent evening at the Bracken household--well, at lesat until all the rumors about Jagt being so disgruntled started flying in the third period--we can't have that kind of stuff going on.
Even though Boucher looks pretty shaky in net, that backup guy you've got looks like he might be pretty good. He really buckled down and made some good saves after allowing that first goal.
So, do you think Bobby Clarke's now feeling that he has to resign Lindros?

So it was 5-2 Pens ... My bad.
I'm very down on the Flyers this year. No Recchi, no LeClair -- it's practically a minor league team, and our wunderkind goalie has all but disappeared.
WOuld you believe that part 7 was the only F13 movie I ever saw? I was so scared of those things when I was a kid ...

Re: Hmm (Reply to this comment)

I agree on that note, I actually thought the whole pyschic subset was a plus for this one. It kinda makes me think the director actually did want to break from the norm and add something new to the plot, and although they still relied on Jason killing campers for the main basis, I think they pulled it off a little better than in the previous installments.
Now, on the Kane Hodder note, I agree with you saying that the role isn't really anything one actor could neccesarily pull off better than another, but I really hink fans of the series embraced him simply because he literally was built like a monster. It gives Jason more of an unbreakable, unconquerable image, thus paying off better when he was overcome. They made him bigger and badder, in my opinion, but not completely invulnerable. Just my 2 cents..
Anyway, excellent review Mike, I've enjoyed keeping up with your takes on each installment...D

I'll admit, this is one of the few Friday the 13th sequels I haven't yet seen, though friends of mine seemed to enjoy it and really like the whole psychic girl premise. Still, I trust your opinion over theirs, so I'm going to have to think about this before I waste any money on it. Great review Mike, as always.

Bill,
Thanks for the kind words--I admire your work a lot (somehow it took me forever to find you on the site--I'm glad Mangiotto's profile page pointed me in the right direction). I'm consistently amazed by the quality of movie reviews on this site.
I've never written for Video Watchdog, although I lurk on a message board that Tim Lucas posts at from time to time. I should probably talk to him sometime, but I'm a little shy.
I really wish Paramount would not only get on the ball with releasing all these films, but I also wish they'd include a few extras for the fans. There's a lot of footage that has been cut that gore fans would love to check out. One of the big advantages of DVD is the ability to include all this extra stuff that hardcore fans would find interesting--and it's a shame that it's not happening on these titles.
Thanks again for the kind words--they're greatly appreciated.

Good Lord... (Reply to this comment)

Mike,
You are an inspiration.
I wish Paramount would release more than two of these movies per year on DVD (parts 5 and 6 are currently skedded for October 2001--utter nonsense), as I've just started to get into them again.
Have you ever written for Video Watchdog? If not, you should be. And making good money at it.
Anyway, thanks for giving this slasheriffic silliness its nostalgic due. Whatever happened to Lar Park Lincoln? She was a thinking man's hottie.
Keep up the amazingly addictive work.
Best,
Bill C
