The 1980's had all kind of action films. But one of the best was 1984's Gremlins. Directed by Joe Dante and Written by Chris Columbus this movie is original and unique. This movie starts off with Rand Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) in Chinatown. Rand is a struggling inventor trying to sell some of his stuff. He comes by a shop and finds a mogwai. A cute, fuzzy, cuddable creature that he names Gizmo. But the mogwai have three rules to remember:
1) He hates bright lights and sunlight will kill it.
2) Don't get it near water, it will multiply.
and last but ceartinally not least
3) Don't feed it after midnight.
The mogwi is a Christmas present for his son Billy (Zach Galligan), who is a bank teller practaclly supporting his family. Once Rand brings the mogwi home he reapets the warnings to them after Billy's mom,Lynn (Frances Lee McCain)take's Gizmo's picture and Gizmo freaks out because of the bright light. That's one rule broken.
But when a neighbor boy, Pete (Corey Feldman) spills water on Gizmo, he multiply's. Now their are six mogwi. That's also two rules broken. Billy then take's the mogwi to his science teacher, Mr. Hanson (Glynn Turman) for analysis, the mogwi accidently get's fed after midnight and Mr. Hanson is a victom of a Gremlin.
These new mogwi are not like Gizmo. They trick Billy into feeding them after midnight and then turn into a cocoon. But then after they hatch, all heck breaks loose.
They then attack Billy's mother, Lynn. But after a tought battle Lynn wins by killing one in the blender, stabbing one, blowing up one in the microwave and one get's throwen into the fire place. But one gremlins excapes, Stripe, the leader.
It seems okay, only one gremlin left, until Stripe falls into the pool at the YMCA.
Then the gremlins go wild and wreak havoc on a unsuspecting town.
This film might be alittle to much for the little kids. Because it might scare them, and is a little gory. I recommend this movie for ages 8 and up.
